Not all coffee cups are made of porcelain or ceramic. Not all coffee cups that aren't made of porcelain are paper coffee cups, either. People's fascination with caffeine has driven them to put coffee in all manner of things. Some folks even swear that coffee from glass coffee cups tastes different than from a porcelain or ceramic coffee cup, but that's obviously subjective. There are other reasons that one might choose glass coffee cups over more traditional methods of serving coffee, though.

Aesthetics

If nothing else, glass coffee cups do allow you to see what you're drinking, which is something porcelain can't do. Coffee can get pretty complicated, so some people prefer to see that it's been done correctly. Following that logic, a smaller coffee shop might opt to use glass coffee cups to make it blindingly obvious that their coffee is done right.

Strength

Yes, glass is known to be breakable, but consider the alternatives when it comes to dishware. As with porcelain and ceramic, thickness and quality are king. Both porcelain and ceramic will chip far easier than a glass coffee cup, as well. Besides, even if you drop a glass coffee cup, it's very unlikely that it will break, unless you drop it on stone, concrete, or something similarly hard, and even then a porcelain or ceramic cup would've broken just as easily.

Keeping Things Warm

Neither porcelain nor ceramic is particularly good at keeping things warm. They don't transfer heat particularly well, though, which is why they're typically used as coffee cups. The whole point isn't to keep the heat in so much as to give you a handle that's cool enough for human hands. Glass typically transfers heat a bit better, but glass coffee cups are generally made to be at least as heat resistant as more traditional ones. Of course, nothing beats an aluminum or plastic insulated mug, and even disposable coffee cups with lids will keep coffee warm longer.

Cost

Glass coffee cups look far more elegant than traditional ones, which leads most people to assume that they're also very expensive. In reality, glass coffee cups are just as affordable as any other well made coffee cup. You can even get glass espresso coffee cups, with matching glass saucers and everything.
